La ventottenne Aurora (Roe) Teagarden, di professione bibliotecaria, fa parte del club Real Murders, un gruppo di 12 appassionati che si riuniscono per studiare crimini famosi, sconcertanti o irrisolti.
Poco prima che la riunione mensile abbia inizio, Roe scopre il corpo massacrato di un membro del club, e si rende conto che il modo in cui la vittima è stata uccisa imita quello usato proprio nell'omicidio riguardo al quale lei avrebbe dovuto parlare quella sera... improvvisamente la sua vita di investigatore da salotto assume una macabra connotazione.
Se vi piace Charlaine Harris ma avete voglia di leggere qualcosa di suo che non abbia elementi paranormali, ma con un bel giallo dalla trama classica o non avete mai letto la Harris e vi piacciono le trame intricate, dove l'assassino da libero sfogo alla sua smania con molteplici omicidi - inspiegabili e collegati tra loro - che aspettano solo di essere ricondotti al colpevole ... eccovi serviti!
Questo libro in un 240 pagine circa, propone la classica eroina stereotipata della Harris:
- scialba
- bruttina
- nessun segno particolare rilevante se non una spiccata e arguta intelligenza...
- vestita davvero malino ... e sono stata generosa!
- con un sacco si - inspiegabili - spasimanti (WTF?!?!?!?!)
coinvolta suo malgrado nelle indagini di omicidi che coinvolgono gli appartenenti al club di cui fa parte e in cui si parla di famosi omicidi avvenuti realmente.
Trama giallo/noir a parte, di cui non posso scendere nel particolare senza svelare particolari importanti è incredibile come tra intrighi cittadini, psico drammi familiari molto divertenti, siparietti amorosi e flirt variegati non mi sia accorta fino alla fine di chi fosse l'assassino, ma come ho fatto??? Ho sottovalutato l'arguzia della Harris, ecco come!
Comunque,vagheggiamenti a parte, queste indagini della Teagarden mi sono piaciute moltissimo e il club degli omicidi avvenuti realmente mi ha conquistato, leggerò sicuramente una nuova avventura! Non è un libro di cui si possa parlare a lungo su approfondimento di personaggi e quant'altro, perché è evasione allo stato puro, un libro che si legge dal dentista,in aereo, in treno, ovunque insomma ma che rende credibile la storia e i personaggi che sono macchiette veramente irresistibili e piacevolissime, quindi leggetelo e godetevelo. Consigliatissimo!!!!

Ho comprato questo romanzo sull'onda dell'entusiasmo per un altro autore che in quanto a noir mi aveva fatto letteralmente impazzire, sto parlando di Simon R. Green con - quel gran meraviglioso romanzo di cui ho intenzione di parlarvi prima o poi - Nightside. Mi sono detta: vai che questo romanzo sarà spettacolare come quello di Green! (le premesse ci sono). Si. Magari.
No. Non è bello come quello di Green, a essere onesti non lo metterei neppure sullo stesso scaffale, ma di già che ne stiamo parlando vi dirò che non mi è piaciuto, non so se ve siete accorti prima...
Il personaggio, la trama, il contesto, la struttura della storia, la struttura delle frasi, le battute ... niente, nada, rien. Il cervello non ha un sussulto, il cuore non trema di paura e le gambe non vacillano per l'ansia da "devo assolutamente finirlo".
Non mi ha coinvolto, convinto, piaciuto, non ci ho creduto, non mi ha spinto a provare qualcosa di diverso anche se forte, solo schifato per le brutture ... ho saltato pagine e pagine assurde e brutte!
Se volete ... provatelo, ma non vi perdete nulla in caso contrario...ci potete contare!!!

I bought this novel on the wave of enthusiasm for another author who as noir made me go crazy, I'm speaking of Simon R. Green - with that great wonderful novel that I'm going to talk sooner or later - with Nightside. I said vai that this novel will be spectacular as that of Green. Maybe Yes.
No, not as nice as that of Green, to be honest I'd use it even on the same shelf, but already that we are talking about will tell you that I did not like, do not know if you have noticed before ...
The character, plot, context, the story structure, sentence structure, the jokes ... no.
I have not been involved, convinced, like, I did not believe, it prompted me to try something different though strong, just disgusted by the ugliness ... I skipped pages and pages absurd and ugly!
If you want to try it, but you lose nothing if not ... we can count!

E forse – solo forse – anche la fine del mondo. Scabroso, emozionante ed esilarante, In trappola al Gil's Diner vi solleticherà le braccia... prima di strapparvele via di dosso.
Se amate le atmosfere alla Tim Burton, se non vi fanno troppo ribrezzo gli zombie e qualche altro nostro dalla natura non ben definita e se siete pronti a trovarvi in un diner collocato in zona magnetica per creature mostruose e insistenti, accanto ad una strada isolata e desertica - calda bollente di giorno e fresca di notte - avete trovato il posto giusto.
In questo libro appena uscito dalla Delos ho semplicemente adorato la caratterizzazione dei due pesonaggi che sono al centro della storia, che sono macchiette che diventano ridicole, affascinanti, divertenti e drammatiche proprio nel momento giusto, quando lo richiede la storia per svoltare con gusto. Chi sono?
Sono rispettivamente un vampiro (Earl) magro, scostante, emaciato, con la mania di mascherare la calvizia incipiente (ma non erano tutti fighi??) e un lupo mannaro (Duke) obeso, affamato e molto protettivo nei confronti del suo inseparabile amico.
Non saranno ovviamente da soli, infatti, una volta accostata l'auto presso il Gil's diner e essersi resi conto di quello che propone - zombi inclusi - restano perché la cameriera Loretta - che si occupa del diner da quando Gil è scomparso misteriosamente - promette loro una somma di denaro per ogni zombie che faranno fuori. Come fanno a rifiutare due scasciati personaggi come i nostri eroi? E infatti rimangono e oltre a eliminare zombie scoprono cimiteri che sfornano non-morti, mucche zombie che li vogliono mangiare vivi, fantasmi - anche quadrupedi - intrappolati in cimiteri dimenticati dove non muore mai nessuno e si sentono soli, una macchia di sangue nel locale che non va mai via, una negromante adolescente fuori di testa, con un unico discepolo (un pò troppo scemo) e un Gil non proprio morto ...
Non vorrei darvi troppe informazioni su Duke ed Earl perché nel libro sono centellinate ma curiose e divertenti da leggere, quindi non vorrei privarvene, ma voglio solo dirvi che è un romanzo così carino che (sul genere) è da un pò che leggevo ... proprio spassoso, contenuto (ad es. negli elementi splatter) ma con una vena decadente ma compassata imbattibile. Inoltre Martinez avendo a disposizione un solo posto in cui far svolgere la storia è stato incredibile nel gestire il racconto e creare i personaggi.
Carino. Carino. Carino. Assicurato!

In this newly published book by Delos I simply adored the characterization of the two pesonaggi that are central to the story, which are specks that become ridiculous, charming, funny and dramatic in just the right time, when prompted to turn the story with gusto. Who am I?
Are respectively a vampire (Earl) slender, aloof, emaciated, with a mania to mask incipient baldness (but not all were cool?) And a werewolf (Duke) obese, hungry and very protective of his inseparable friend.
There will obviously be alone, in fact, once approached the car at Gil's Diner, and becoming aware of what offers - including zombies - remain because the waitress Loretta - who deal with the diner since Gil has mysteriously disappeared - their promises a sum of money for each zombie that will make it out. How do they refuse two scasciati people like our heroes? And in fact remain and in addition to eliminating zombies find cemeteries churning out undead, zombie cows want to eat them alive, ghosts - even quadrupeds - trapped in forgotten cemeteries where no one ever dies, and you feel alone, a bloodstain in the local never goes away, a teenage necromancer out of your mind, with one student (a bit too stupid) and Gil did not really dead ...
I would not give too much information about Duke and Earl because in the book are centellinate but curious and fun to read, so I would not deprive you, but I just want to tell you that it is a novel that's so cute (gender) is a while since I read ... its amusing, content (eg. in the elements splatter) but with a vein decadent but prim beat. Martinez also will have access to only one place in which to carry the story has been amazing in dealing with the story and creating characters.
